Downtown Crabapple in Milton, Georgia is small enough to walk end to end. The Green at Crabapple Market is about 4 minutes on foot from Milton City Hall and from Broadwell Pavilion, and about 2 minutes from the crossroads restaurants on Crabapple Road. Every time on this page is measured along OpenStreetMap streets and paths at about 3 mph. We did not time them on foot.

How these times were measured

We took each place’s map point, routed between them on OpenStreetMap streets, sidewalks and paths, and divided the distance by a steady walking pace of about 3 mph, or 80 metres a minute, rounding to the nearest minute. That gives a fair comparison between places. It does not know about a slow crossing, a closed sidewalk, a door at the back of a building, or a child who wants to stop at the playground. Add a few minutes for real life.

The core: market, City Hall, pavilion, crossroads

For the crossroads we measure to Tres Lunas at 12635 Crabapple Road, one of the buildings at the old five-way intersection.

From To Minutes on foot
The Green at Crabapple Market Milton City Hall about 4
The Green at Crabapple Market Broadwell Pavilion about 4
The Green at Crabapple Market The crossroads (Tres Lunas) about 2
Milton City Hall Broadwell Pavilion about 6
Milton City Hall The crossroads (Tres Lunas) about 4
Broadwell Pavilion The crossroads (Tres Lunas) about 5

The longest leg in the core is about 6 minutes. You can stand at any one of these four places and reach the other three inside a short coffee break.

A little farther: Milton’s Cuisine, the library and Mayfield Park

From To Minutes on foot
Broadwell Pavilion Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails about 3
The Green at Crabapple Market Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails about 5
Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails Milton Library about 5
Broadwell Pavilion Milton Library about 6
The Green at Crabapple Market Milton Library about 8
Milton Library Mayfield Park about 9
The Green at Crabapple Market Mayfield Park about 14
Milton City Hall Mayfield Park about 16

Mayfield Park is the one walk that takes real time. An archived City page lists it as a five-acre park at 1000 Mayfield Road, just north of and across from the library, with a pier, pavilion and walking trails.

From each parking area

Lots in Crabapple mostly sit behind buildings. That is by design: the Crabapple form-based code requires open parking lots to be screened from the street by a building or streetscreen. So the walk from your car is part of every visit.

Parking area To the Green To City Hall To Broadwell Pavilion To the crossroads
Crabapple Market parking garage about 4 about 4 about 7 about 3
Milton City Hall lot about 6 about 4 about 7 about 5
Milton Library lot about 7 about 9 about 5 about 9
Crabapple Government Center (festival accessible parking) about 3 about 5 about 1 about 5

The market publishes no parking rules or fees for its garage, the library publishes none for its lot, and the City publishes no public parking rules or time limits for the City Hall lot. The garage is the one with the 60-foot “Heart of Milton” mural on its wall, per Appen Media. The parking guide has the full detail.

Festival-day lots

On Crabapple Fest day the City sends people to church and school lots on Birmingham Highway with a free shuttle. If you walk instead, here is the distance to the Green:

  • Crabapple Crossing Elementary: about 9 minutes
  • Milton Community Church: about 10 minutes
  • Northwestern Middle: about 19 minutes
  • Milton High: about 20 minutes

These lots are festival parking, not public parking on other days. The Crabapple Fest parking article covers the shuttle and closures.

Two short loops

Add the measured legs together and you get easy circuits:

  • The core loop, about 17 minutes: Milton City Hall to the Green (about 4), the Green to the crossroads (about 2), the crossroads to Broadwell Pavilion (about 5), and the pavilion back to City Hall (about 6).
  • The Mayfield Road side, about 12 minutes: Milton Library to Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails (about 5), on to Broadwell Pavilion (about 3), then to the Green (about 4).

Both are walking time only. Stops for coffee, the bookstore or the playground beside the pavilion are on you.

Restrooms and the walk

The City says restrooms and seating are just outside Community Place on the City Hall grounds; it does not publish their hours. They are about 2 minutes from City Hall and about 4 from the Green. Broadwell Pavilion also lists restrooms, though the City’s page for it is an older archive.

Is downtown Crabapple walkable?

By the numbers, yes, inside the core. The Crabapple code states the goal outright: everyday activities within walking or bicycling distance of most homes. Shops, offices and civic buildings in the code area must also provide at least one bike rack.

One stated goal of the Crabapple form-based code is that everyday activities be within walking or bicycling distance of most homes. (City of Milton UDC, checked Oct 18, 2026)

Two cautions. Crabapple Road and Birmingham Highway through the district are State Route 372, a state highway, and the City warns that it backs up near the three schools on weekday mornings and mid-afternoons. And golf carts are not a workaround: under the City’s PTV rules, personal transportation vehicles may not be driven on SR 372 or on the sidewalks and grass beside it, and there is currently no legal PTV crossing of it.

Plan a route with the visit planner, which uses the same measured minutes, or start from things to do and Crabapple with kids.
