Downtown Crabapple Parking: Everyday Lots, Festival Lots and Walks

The short answer

The City of Milton publishes no everyday parking rules, time limits or fees for downtown Crabapple. Most visitors use the City Hall lot, the Crabapple Market parking garage or the Milton Library lot, each about 4 minutes on foot from the Green, City Hall or the crossroads. On Crabapple Fest day, parking moves to free lots on Birmingham Highway with a shuttle, and neighborhood streets are off-limits.

The everyday lots

Three lots serve most visits. None has posted rules online that we could find, so read any signs on the ground; they are the rules.

Milton City Hall lot (Heritage Walk)

A surface lot beside City Hall, 2006 Heritage Walk. The City of Milton publishes no public parking rules or time limits for it. From the lot it is about 4 minutes on foot to City Hall’s front door, about 6 minutes to the Green and about 7 minutes to Broadwell Pavilion. On Crabapple Fest day the lot is part of the festival and is not available for parking.

Crabapple Market parking garage

The market’s garage is the one with the 60-foot “Heart of Milton” mural on its wall, as Appen Media reported. The market posts no parking rules or fees. It is about 4 minutes on foot to the Green, about 4 minutes to City Hall, about 7 minutes to Broadwell Pavilion and about 9 minutes to Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails at the crossroads.

Milton Library lot (Mayfield Road)

The library at 855 Mayfield Rd. has its own surface lot, about 1 minute from the door. OpenStreetMap records about 120 spaces, but the Fulton County Library System publishes no parking rules, so treat it as parking for library patrons. If you are going to the library or the crossroads, it is the obvious choice: about 4 minutes on foot to Milton’s Cuisine.

Why the lots hide behind buildings: the Crabapple form-based code in Milton’s Unified Development Code requires open parking lots to be screened from the street by a building or a streetscreen. The same code sets a general ratio of 3.5 off-street spaces per 1,000 square feet for new development and allows shared parking.

Festival-day parking

For Crabapple Fest the City moves parking out of the village. In 2026 (October 3), free event parking was at four lots on Birmingham Highway, with a free shuttle between the lots and the festival:

  • For Crabapple Fest 2026 (October 3), free event parking was at Milton Community Church (12760 Birmingham Highway), Crabapple Crossing Elementary School (12775 Birmingham Highway), Northwestern Middle School (12805 Birmingham Highway) and Milton High School (13025 Birmingham Highway). City of Milton
  • A free shuttle picked up and dropped off festival-goers at the church and school lots during Crabapple Fest 2026. City of Milton
  • On festival day, parking on neighborhood streets is strictly prohibited and violators risk being towed at the owner's expense. City of Milton

From those lots, the walk to the Green is about 9 minutes from Crabapple Crossing Elementary, about 10 minutes from Milton Community Church and about 19 to 20 minutes from Northwestern Middle and Milton High. The church lot is about 8 minutes on foot from Broadwell Pavilion. On other days they are church and school lots, not event parking.

Accessible parking. The City’s festival page listed handicap parking at the Crabapple Government Center, 12624 Broadwell Road, across from Broadwell Pavilion, and at the Shell station at the Broadwell/Crabapple/Birmingham Highway intersection. The City’s 2026 preview article named a different spot, behind the Goddard School at 12665 Crabapple Road. The two sources disagree, so check the City of Milton notice each year.

The full festival picture, with road closures and detours, is on Crabapple Fest and in our article on fest parking and road closures.

Towing

On festival day the City says parking on neighborhood streets is strictly prohibited and violators risk being towed at the owner’s expense. If Milton Police have a vehicle towed, the Milton Police page says it goes to the contracted United Towing Service, 1160 Tidwell Road, Alpharetta, 770.751.0581.

EV charging

There is no public EV charger in the village. The federal AFDC station database lists none within about 2.1 miles of the Crabapple crossroads. The nearest Level 2 ports are at BMW Alpharetta Station 03, 1501 Alpharetta Hwy, Roswell (2 J1772 ports on ChargePoint). The nearest DC fast charger is Georgia Power Wills Road, 11675 Wills Rd, Alpharetta, about 2.5 miles away, and the largest fast-charging site nearby is Roswell Crossing MB.HPC, 615 W. Crossville Rd, Roswell, with 10 DC fast ports about 2.9 miles away. Charge before you come.

Golf carts and PTVs

Golf carts and other personal transportation vehicles have their own rules in Milton, per the City of Milton:

  • They must be registered with the City; the form goes to City Hall with a $15 fee.
  • They may use city-maintained streets with a speed limit of 25 mph or lower.
  • They may not use State Route 372 (Crabapple Road and Birmingham Highway) or State Route 9, or the sidewalks and grass beside them.
  • There is currently no legal PTV crossing of SR 372; the City is working with GDOT on crossings.
  • Drivers must be at least 16 with a valid license.

The City Council passed a Crabapple Area PTV Plan on August 1, 2022, mapping multi-use paths for PTVs; they still need funding and construction.

Bikes

The Crabapple code requires shops, offices and civic buildings to provide at least one bike rack, and the Milton Library lists bike racks among its facilities. Whitetail Bicycles on Heritage Walk is a full-service bike shop if something breaks.

Getting in by road

Crabapple Road and Birmingham Highway through the district are both State Route 372. In summer 2026 the City warned of significant delays around Crabapple from the Freemanville Road bridge replacement; as of mid-October it reported the new bridge was on track for a fall opening, with no date given.
